We are pleased to share that Stand Up To Cancer is returning to our screens next month for a week of special programming, culminating in a live fundraising night on Friday, 12th December.
This year, Channel 4 and Cancer Research UK are joining forces not just to raise vital funds for life-saving research, but to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and cancer screening.
What to Watch: While the campaign will feature the usual celebrity entertainment—including specials of Celebrity Gogglebox and The Last Leg—there is a groundbreaking new programme we particularly encourage our patients to see.
Cancer Clinic: Live (Friday, 12th December) will broadcast directly from Addenbrooke’s Hospital. For the first time on UK television, viewers will see real-time clinical consultations with cancer specialists. The aim is to demystify what happens inside a cancer clinic, tackling the fear that often prevents people from seeking help.
New Screening Checker Tool: As part of the campaign launching on Friday, 5th December, a new online screening checker will be available. This simple tool is designed to help you quickly find out which NHS cancer screening programmes you may be eligible for.
Why Early Diagnosis Matters: We know that attending screenings and getting symptoms checked early can save lives. As Davina McCall, one of the hosts, says: “Early diagnosis gives you options and hope.”
